The Claire Lomas Walk Campaign and Saddle Up for Spinal Research have teamed up to produce an A5 week-to-view equestrian diary to raise funds.
The diary includes dates of major events throughout 2009 and has space to keep your essential contact numbers and your horse's event registration numbers. These useful extras, along with the colour photographs of hunting, polo, vaulting, snow racing and the Olympic disciplines, make it an ideal gift for horsy friends.
The diary is on sale for £10 at events, in tack shops and online to raise money for two charities. The first, the Claire Lomas Walk Campaign, funds treatment for Claire, who produced horses to and competed at 4-star level until an accident in 2007 at Osberton Horse trials left her paralysed. So far the fund has paid for equipment and treatment that has seen Claire take her first steps again, albeit with the aid of a sling and a treadmill. Read more about the campaign at Get Claire Walking.
The second is a branch of Spinal Research. The Saddle Up campaign was launched to raise money and awareness among the equestrian community who are at risk from spinal cord injuries. So far the campaign has raised more than £744,000. The charity does not receive any government funding, therefore it can only continue its research through generous donations from its supporters. To find out more about donation and the charity, call 01483 898786 or visit Spinal Research.
