David Beckham showed some nascent country credentials recently on a day's partridge shooting. And he gave the non-shooting public a sartorial lesson in dressing for the field. Dress like David but shoot like Digweed
Fielders know that the best weekend is a sporting one. And now David Beckham agrees with us. The well-known footballer was spotted enjoying a day’s partridge shooting with mate Guy Ritchie. And he looked decidedly stylish while doing so.
We may not be standing in line alongside David Beckham this season, but if you are keen you can get his sporting look. We have tracked down what Mr Beckham wore in the field, so you can don it too.
But don’t have all the gear and no idea. Dress like David, shoot like Digweed. Follow our partridge shooting tips to shoot just as dashingly as you dress.
DRESS LIKE DAVID BECKHAM IN THE FIELD
Now is the time to revamp your field attire. Trawling the shops is a bore so follow David Beckham’s smart field style. We have tracked down what he wore to make the shopping simple.
The Barbour Prestbury Wax Jacket (£199.00) is everything a traditional Barbour should be. With a waxed cotton outer and box-quilted lining it proved too toasty for Beckham to sport his all day but you’ll be thankful for it as the temperatures drop. Also available in Olive.
No country wardrobe is complete without a gilet. Follow David Beckham’s lead with the Men’s Aigle Shepper Fleece Gilet (£140.00) from Outdoor and Country. Timelessly stylish and best at keeping body heat in and winter cold out.
A layer of cashmere is the most luxurious of comforts. And it looks terrific. Copy the camel tone stylishly sported by David Beckham with this cashmere long-sleeved polo (£79.00) by Orvis. The tri-blend of cotton, silk and cashmere ingeniously offers both breathability and warmth.
Every country gentleman knows that a checked shirt is a wardrobe essential. Look sharp in the Musto Classic Check Twill Shirt (£59.99) from William Powell. Available in a variety of country checks. Follow Beckham’s lead and opt for a subtle brown and blue pattern.
Beckham looked incredibly dapper in his tweed trousers and they are getting ever more popular in town and in the country. The Tweed Trousers (£175.00) by Oliver Brown are an excellent choice. For the Beckham look opt for a subtle brown tweed and turn ups.
DRESS LIKE DAVID BECKHAM FROM TOP TO TOE
Any sporting tie that features a critter is a guaranteed Field favourite, but we also quite agree with David Beckham that less is more. The Donegal tweed green wool tie (£65.00) from William & Son will complement every sporting outfit. Understated and classic.
Top your look with a stylish cap. This Cashmere Tremolo cap (£155.00) from Lock & Co. Hatters is a particular favourite of Mr Beckham’s, who has sported it at airports, on London’s streets and now in the field.
But no country gentleman wants soggy cashmere atop his crown. For a cap that will see you through wind, rain and snow, the Stetson Hats Burney Leather Newsboy Cap (£69.95) from hatsandcaps.co.uk is a sterling choice.
A day in the field requires excellent boots. Le Chameau already have a strong A-list following, sported by likes of Kate Moss and the Duchess of Cambridge for squelching in style. And now David Beckham has joined the ranks, with the Men’s Chasseur Leather Boot (£340.00). A superb choice.
But a country gentleman knows to leave his boots at the door. Beckham confirmed that the brogue simply cannot be bettered by any other gentleman’s shoe. And the Cheaney Arthur III D Brogue in Dark Leaf Calf Leather (£320.00) is the greatest of them all.
