Glanusk Lodge in the middle of Glanusk Park is a cracking sporting destination and just two hours from London.

The River Usk flows through the estate for four miles and provides two miles of double-bank fishing for guests, from fast-flowing rapids to stillwater for salmon and trout.

There are two shoots on the estate: the main shoot and a family shoot. Days are available on both. The Lodge, on the site of the original mansion demolished in 1952, is serene. “We treat every guest as though they were friends staying,” says Harry Legge-Bourke. “Why bother heading north or west when this gem is at most people’s front door?”
