The personal touch always makes ordinary things a little
more special, and there’s a festive reminder of this at the Pallant House
Gallery, Chichester, in a free exhibition called Festive Greetings: Artists’
Christmas Cards. A selection of handmade cards given to friends and family by a
host of celebrated British artists is on display until 9 January. Famous names
include Terry Frost, Edward Bawden, John Piper and John Craxton. The work
illustrated seen here was given to Sir Herbert Read at Christmas 1958 by
Terry Frost, and has been loaned to the exhibition by their son, art historian
Benedict Read.
A special children’s card-making workshop will be held on Saturday
4th December, 10:15am until 12.15pm. Ages 5-10. Places must be pre-booked.
